Lofty Lofts

Lofts are in! They are everywhere you look. As cool as they are, lofts are often hard to furnish. By not having the divisional space of traditional rooms, one often has to be creative in furnishing a loft. Cool artwork, functional furniture and use of colors/texture are a must.

Here are a few ideas in furnishing your loft:

1)Invest in a great sofa--one that is comfortable to sit, snuggle yet beautiful enough as this is the first thing most people see after walking in the door. Here is a few of our favorites:

This sofa is long (105 inches), modern and classic. It can be done in our fabric or yours (we've done it in cream and chocolate--it's marvelous).

Domicile Sofa by Bolier $2595-customer own material

Another one of our favorite (this one sits so well, it's unbelievable how comfortable it is).

White Leather Sectional by Moroni $3500

Artwork is another very important component in furnishing a loft. Here are some cool ones that can be custom-size (yes, you can have it as large as you want it).

Oh Hey Longo $450 (36x24-Custom size available)

: : i'm back. so sorry i've been absent for the past week. my lovely friend .erica. from home came to visit for the week. and we took the grand tour, seeing everything between New York city and Southern Maine. not quite, but we did spend a few wonderful days in NYC and just today returned from an incredibly relaxing weekend in Rockport, MA. my absolute favorite place in all of New England.

.erica. brought me a whole stack of Swedish design magazines....nothing makes me happier. i've read them over and over again. much of my inspiration this week will come from my swedish magazines as well as my inspiration from the weekend.

to start off, I found this adorable store in Rockport on Saturday, called Lula's pantry. [unfortunately, they don't have a website.] where i found some wonderful french bull melamine plates, along with some plates by thomas paul. which inspired me to do a series of black and white patterns for inspiration.

: : this wonderful pattern is designed by Åsa Ekerholm, sold at Åhlens in Sweden. The pattern is called Elisa, and can be found on plates as well. Check out the latest issue of Sköna Hem [Swedish home decor magazine], you can find the plates on page 21.

: : all time favorite, marimekko, has some wonderful black and white collections. find them at scandinavian design center online.

: : Swedish fashion designer Filippa K joined Rörstrand, Swedish china company, and these great cups were the result of that collaboration. I am a big fan, and a collector as well. The gold edition just came out this year! I am still missing that piece. Find these at scandinavian design center.
